Caravels

The Discovery of the World in the 15th / 16th centuries has had an importante roll in the Portuguese legacy. Building ships made of Wood by skilled craftsmen, establishing new concepts and navigation tecniques enabling the most formidable oceans.

Portugal is known for its Caravels having sailed through the trade of spices and trade Commerce.

Continuing the Tradicional Portuguese in the making of cargo Boats carved by craftsmen is called Rebelo Boat. It was originally used mainly to transport the barels of Port wine and other cargo but nowadays they are used for sightseeing cruises sailing down the Douro river.

Portugal has a long coastline bathed by the Atlantic Ocean beeing birth to allot of Fisherman’s which brought Portugal close to other cultures.
